May 22nd, 2026
Principal's Message
Hello Huskie Families,
Spring has finally sprung, and it certainly feels like summer weather has arrived! It has been wonderful to see students enjoying the sunshine and all of the exciting activities happening around the school. Our students have been hard at work during EQAO assessments, and we are very proud of the effort and perseverance they have shown. Our Holsgrove Track and Field Days were a great success thanks to the organization and effort of staff and students.
As we move closer to the end of the school year, we wanted to share a few important reminders and upcoming events:
- Friday, May 29 is a PA Day — there will be no school for students.
- Our Year End Celebration will take place on June 9.
- Our Kindergarten Open House will be held on June 11.
Please see details below for more information.
Thank you for your continued support as we head into this very busy and exciting time of year.
Have a wonderful weekend!
J. Cole, Principal

School Parking Lot Safety - Important Reminder
Our school parking lot continues to be a very busy space, especially at arrival and dismissal times, with students walking to and from school, families picking up children by car, and buses loading and unloading. This creates significant congestion and requires everyone’s full attention. Please be mindful of the clearly posted “No Parking” signs, which indicate where parking is not permitted, and help keep traffic flowing safely. We ask all families to proceed with caution, follow signage, and remain patient so we can work together to ensure the safety of all students and community members. Please also note that City of Kingston by-law officers will be monitoring and enforcing these regulations.
Thank you in advance for your adherence to these important safety protocol.
Mathematical Fluency
In math, students are building fluency by learning and practicing a variety of strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Fluency means more than just getting the right answer—it is the ability to work with numbers flexibly, efficiently, and with confidence. Students are exploring different approaches such as breaking numbers apart, using known facts, and applying mental math strategies to solve problems in ways that make sense to them. By developing these skills, students deepen their understanding of numbers and become more confident, adaptable mathematicians. Below are some of the strategies your child is learning at school—ask them which strategy they are currently working on!
