Busy weeks continue ahead for this month with a wide range of school events scheduled. Please see posters below for more information.As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety, students will be participating in several safety practice drills over the coming weeks, including fire drills and a lockdown drill. Our lockdown practice is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11th.These practice drills help students and staff become familiar with safety procedures and ensure we are prepared in the event of an emergency. This creates significant congestion and requires everyone’s full attention. Please be mindful of the clearly posted “No Parking” signs, which indicate where parking is not permitted, and help keep traffic flowing safely. We ask all families to proceed with caution, follow signage, and remain patient so we can work together to ensure the safety of all students and community members. Please also note that City of Kingston by-law officers will be monitoring and enforcing these regulations.Thank you in advance for your adherence to these important safety protocol. <hr><h3 class="editor-heading-h3" style="text-align: start;">Jump Rope for Heart</h3> On June 12, from 2:00  to 2:45 W. J. Holsgrove will be jumping rope to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Welcome to W. J. Holsgrove Public School, home of the Huskies! We are a Kindergarten to Grade 8 school located in Westbrook. We believe in preparing students to be responsible, caring and contributing citizens who contribute to the development of safe and supportive schools. Over the coming months, Limestone staff will be reviewing and updating course outlines, assessment practices, and supporting resources to ensure alignment with the new provincial requirements.The Food Sharing Project UpdateDuring the 2025-2026 school year, The Food Sharing Project supported every LDSB school by providing nutritious food and resources to students each day. On average, more than 14,000 meals and snacks were served each week, over 530,000 throughout the year, with weekly food orders reaching approximately $17,500.We are grateful to the dedicated staff who make these programs possible, and to The Food Sharing Project for continuing to support student well-being across LDSB. This support is increasingly important as many families continue to face food insecurity. Board of Trustees Approves 2026–2027 School Year Budget

At its regular meeting on June 17, 2026, the Limestone District School Board of Trustees approved a $340.5 million budget for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a deficit budget balanced through the use of reserve funds.The approved budget complies with Ministry of Education requirements and includes:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">Operating expenditures of $316.8 million, representing a $73,000 decrease compared to the previous year.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Capital expenditures of $23.7 million, allocated to school condition improvements and renewal projects.</li></ul>The vast majority of the operating budget is directed to student instruction and relates directly to classroom support.
